Paving the Way to Build the First Paw Artist Sanctuary
Over the past 8 months we have been trying to get the 10 Pawcasso dogs situated with no such luck, leaving us with one last option, which is to buy a small piece of land (approximately 5 acres) to build individual SECURED housing for all these unadoptable dogs, and set up the FIRST Pawcasso Paw Artist Sanctuary in the United States.
Entering Spring 2022, we needed to get a reality check for the 10 PAWCASSO dogs under the care of Animal Coalition Unlimited. They are living with complex dog personalities & social challenges, all of which require varying levels of support. We believe every dog has its gift. Our team strives to challenge perceptions & create better acceptance for these autistic dogs.
These dogs can’t stay at the boarding forever and we can’t just wait for a miracle to drop from the sky. Due to the constant difficulties that we have been experiencing at the boarding facility; since it was sold by its original owner in late 2019, the need to relocate all Pawcasso Dogs has become a number one priority now. We are doing the best we can for them. Please read here to see how well they are being taken care of, even under the less than perfect situation. On the weekends, they have the taste of living in a home & get one on one interaction with their weekend fosters.
Pawcasso Bam Bam; loves nothing more than his couch & his toys.
Pawcasso Duds; the dog that was given the second chance
This is the dog that had so many bad remarks on his return notes. At the point, his return notes made him sound like a hopeless soul. With a bite incident involving a stranger on one of his return notes, many “reputable” rescuers would have quietly eliminated him upon return. For some reason, upon returning back to us, he viewed some men as a threat, and it took us almost 5 months to finally find a good match for his weekend foster. Thru some understanding, he finally built a nice bond with one of our volunteers; the guy took him for his daily walk every day after work & finally signed up to host him on the weekends, teaching him things he previously lacked.
What’s next?
So, what would be an ideal setting for these Pawcasso dogs? A quiet place in a country setting that includes multiple tiny house structures, where every Pawcasso lives in. The Paw Artist sanctuary should be created as a secured/gated dog community with a main building where the caretakers can live in & manage the site everyday. All Pawcasso Sanctuary residents should have easy access to their indoor and outdoor personal space. The tiny home is providing each dog with enough room to play & chill, equipped with electrical heater & Ceiling cooling fan to keep the room as comfortable as possible. Instead of dog beds, every room will have a cozy couch for the Pawcasso to sleep on. The outdoor run should be big enough for them to soak up morning sun & playing. Every unit will have a sturdy 6ft fence & be escape proof.
