every dog has its day

A Pawcasso Dog Named Tylee; every dog has its gift

It’s tough, but Noble

Working with an autistic dog can be difficult and ripe with unique challenges. However, it is also a rather noble act of canine-centric kindness. Above all of the challenges that crop up in this situation, know that every dog has its gift and you are providing love to a dog that needs affection, something that makes owning such a special pooch worthwhile.

Once, she was a normal puppy

When Tylee was just eight weeks old, she was just like any other puppy; a soft, squirming bundle of fur with a sparkle in her eyes. At that time her future seemed bright. However, over time the sparkle in her eyes diminished, and her abnormal behavior started showing when she was about 16 weeks old.

The challenge seemed to increase over a period of time

Tylee used to go on puppy outings three times a week, but one day during her routine daily walk in the city, she suddenly freaked out and managed to slip away from her handler for a brief moment. That incident made our team realize that Tylee couldn’t be walked in public for her own safety. The stress from cars passing by, delivery men walking around the sidewalk delivering packages, and all other colorful elements around her were just too much for her to handle.

Tylee’s guardian still takes her for car rides on the weekends to have her see the outside “normal” world, but she must travel in a crate with a nice, soft bed for comfort and her own safety. Despite her detachment, Tylee is a very smart dog that learned to understand several commands faster than her siblings, But, she will only do it if she knows you are going to let her fetch the bouncing ball afterwards.

Not socially accepted by other canines

Tylee is not accepted by any other dogs, who seems to have noticed she has an abnormal mentality; and other dogs just want to hurt her. Furthermore, Tylee is NOT a submissive dog by any means. We have been able to prevent anything bad from happening. Tylee is a special needs pup; she lives in her own world. If Autism ever was found in animals, Tylee for sure has it. She is sweet, but completely disconnected from everything outside her little world. Loud noises, out of ordinary routines, unusual types of dressing/appearance; those types of things freak her out easily.

Her joy in life is when she gets to play with the ball.

She is very good catching this ball in the air; either on the way up or down she will leap high and take it almost every time.

Every dog has its gift

In addition of her athletic talent, Tylee is a great artist too. As you can see, her PawArt is pretty amazing!
